For my About Me page, I wanted to showcase my personal social media skill-set. This includes the different platforms I use and how I use them, my professional use of social media on LinkedIn, and what my peers think about my social media usage. Everything here shows that my personal social media is clean, professional, and reserved.

Social Media Audit

When considering my own use of social media and creating my map, it became clear that I was much more comfortable using it as a visitor rather than a resident. Even the websites that were entirely resident--Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest--I don't post on very often. I am relatively private on my social media except for Snapchat, in which case I use daily and to communicate with various different people.

Additionally, there are very few websites that I am a resident in that I use solely for personal uses. Even when it comes to the sites I use the most--Facebook and Instagram--i still use them for professional uses too, mainly for promoting my organization. I realized this after conducting my social media audit. Many of my posts were not for personal reasons but rather to raise money and awareness for PDM.
Using this information, I came to the conclusion that my brand is charitable and quiet: i.e. most of my posts are done for my organization and any other ones are few and far between. The things I do post personally, however, reflect me pretty well. I do care deeply about PDM And I do enjoy dressing up and going out with friends. Nevertheless, these posts only represent a small portion of my life and do not depict what I do on a daily basis. Therefore, going along with my privacy settings, I think my social media brand is fairly accurate and represents my personal and professional selves well.

Overall, the social media audit did not reveal anything very surprising to me. I knew that I was relatively private and I knew that I rarely posted anything that I didn't find exciting or important in my life. My social media use is very structured and limited as a resident. I was also already aware of how much I visit sites solely as a visitor. Many of these websites--Google, YouTube, Twitter, etc.--are things that I have no interest in sharing my life on. This is mostly due to the format. However, these formats do lend themselves to allowing me to visit and remain a visitor without posting.
Peer Audit
"Megan seems like a fun and happy individual. She is on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Megan posts photos of her with her friends and family and she promotes fundraising that she does. She doesn't post a lot, on average about once a month. Her LinkedIn is up to date on her job position and career aspirations, however, she does not seem to use it to post original content or like other people's content. Megan does not have a profile on her LinkedIn, which makes me think that the profile is either new or she is not very active on the site. When googling megan, not a lot of results came up. She has a popular name which is why I think that I got so many unrelated results. Her Facebook and LinkedIn appeared at the top of the results page.
Overall, Megan's social media is active, fun, and respectable. She shows a fun side of her life without posting something that will have job recruiters afraid. Her accounts show that she is passionate about living a happy life and helping others. One thing I would improve on is the LinkedIn profile: add a picture and maybe share an article that someone you follow posted to show that you are active on the site."
